Makeup All Stars

Coins and the Daily Shop in Roblox Makeup All Stars

Quick answer

Coins come from rounds and are spent in a rotating daily shop. Two passes change the rate — 2x Coins at 99 Robux, VIP at 199 — and the store does not say how they combine. Level-locked items and game passes are separate shelves; shop items are never included in a pass.

Coins are the only currency in Makeup All Stars that you cannot buy with money — you buy the rate at which you earn them. That distinction explains almost every complaint about the economy, and it is worth ten minutes before you spend a Robux.

Where coins come from

One source, in the game's own words: rounds. You finish a round, the round pays out coins, and the shop takes them. There is no second currency, no daily login bonus advertised on the store page, and no code system to top up with.

Two passes change the rate rather than the source:

PassRobuxEffect on coinsWhat it does not do
2x Coins (DOUBLE EARNINGS)992x coins from each round, permanentlyDoes not unlock items or add cosmetics
VIP1991.5x coins from every roundMultiplier is smaller than 2x; the rest of VIP is cosmetics and storage
Unlock ALL + VIP3991.5x coins, via the VIP it containsDoes not include 2x Coins; shop items still cost coins

Read the multiplier column carefully. VIP's 1.5x and the 2x pass are described in the same terms — coins from rounds — and they are sold separately, and the store does not say how the two behave together. Anyone quoting you a combined figure is extrapolating. Plan as though you are choosing one.

The three shelves, and which one takes coins

This is the part that trips people up, because the game has three separate places items come from and only one of them is the shop.

ShelfCurrencyHow you get what is on it
Daily shopCoinsRotates its stock; you buy with coins you earned
Level-locked setPlaytime (or 399 Robux)Opens as you level, or instantly with Unlock ALL — 60+ looks
Game passesRobuxPermanent perks: multipliers, lashes, finishes, storage, VIP shop slot

The 399 pass says it plainly: shop items are not included, because they are bought with coins. A player who buys the biggest pass expecting an empty shop is reading the wrong shelf.

The shop rotates — that changes everything

Rotation is the single most important design decision in this economy, and it is easy to miss on day one.

  • You cannot save for one specific item. It may not be back tomorrow, and you have no way to know when.
  • Hoarding has a cost. Coins held through a rotation you wanted is the most common beginner regret in any rotating shop.
  • Panic buying has a bigger cost. Buying four things you will never wear is worse than buying one you will.
  • The VIP slot is a shop slot, not a discount. VIP gets a dedicated slot in the daily shop; the pass text does not promise better prices.

The practical rule: buy what you will use in a theme you have already seen, and let the rest go.

Earning faster without spending

If you are not buying a pass, the only lever is rounds — more rounds, finished rounds, in that order. Three habits do the work:

  1. Finish the round even when the look is bad. An abandoned round pays nothing.
  2. Play in short, frequent sessions. Five rounds you actually play beat fifteen you sleepwalk through, because the second batch produces looks that lose and therefore feel like wasted time.
  3. Use what you already own. Rebuilding the same face every round earns the same coins as building a new one, so spend the round on the look rather than on scrolling.

Storage is the quiet accelerator: 24 saved colours, 24 Look Book slots and a 100-look gallery come with VIP, and their whole purpose is removing setup time. If you play without VIP, do the free version by hand — keep two or three palettes you know work, and rebuild from those.

Spending order that survives rotation

PriorityWhat to buyWhy
1LashesBiggest visible change per coin at card size
2Hair you will use in more than one themeFrames the whole look, visible from across the room
3A second gloss or eye colourCheap variation; same look, different read
4Anything only visible in a close-upLast — the room sees a card, not a portrait

That list is about visibility, not rarity, because the audience in this game is nine other players looking at a small image.

What coins cannot buy

Worth stating plainly, because search results for this game blur the line:

  • The badge. ALL STARS: Top 10 Globally is awarded for reaching the top 10 on the global leaderboard and cannot be purchased — the badge page has the numbers.
  • Votes. The room votes; nothing in the shop or the passes touches that.
  • Level-locked items, one at a time. The set opens by levelling or all at once with the 399 pass; there is no coin price per item in the store description.
  • A better rate, retroactively. Multipliers apply going forward. Nothing refunds coins already earned.

The 99 vs 199 decision, in coin terms

If your only complaint is "the shop feels slow", the cheapest fix is 2x Coins at 99 — it is a pure multiplier with nothing else attached, and it is permanent.

If your complaint is "I keep rebuilding the same palette and I am bored", the answer is not a multiplier. VIP's storage and its colour wheel are what change that, and you are paying 199 for them plus a smaller 1.5x.

If you have neither complaint, buy nothing. Rounds still pay.
