Coins, Items and Game Passes in Roblox Makeup All Stars
Coins come from rounds and buy items in the daily shop. Three game passes change the maths: 2x Coins (99 Robux) doubles round payouts, VIP (199) adds 1.5x coins plus extras, and Unlock ALL (399) opens every level-locked look and includes VIP.
Everything you can buy in Makeup All Stars is a shortcut or a cosmetic, never a look that wins a round for you. That is not a marketing line, it is what the three game-pass descriptions actually promise: round earnings multipliers, lashes, finishes, colours, saved slots, and early access to level-locked items. Nothing in the store sells a vote, a leaderboard position or a score.
That makes the economy easy to understand once you separate its two currencies.
Coins: earned, rotating, spent
Coins come from rounds. Play a round, get coins; the 2x Coins pass doubles that, the VIP pass multiplies it by 1.5, and neither of them is required to play.
Coins are spent in the daily shop, which rotates its stock. Rotation is the whole design of the coin economy: it creates urgency, it means you cannot simply save up for one perfect item, and it is why the largest pass is careful to state that shop items are not included. Passes and shop stock are two different shelves.
Level-locked items: the grind the passes sell
Some hairstyles, accessories and lashes are locked behind level. The 399 Robux pass exists entirely to bypass that: its description promises every level-locked hairstyle, accessory and lash immediately, and puts the size of that set at over 60 looks.
This is the one place where the game's monetisation is aimed at impatience rather than at cosmetics. If you are happy to level, the locked set is content you will eventually open for free. If you want the library now, that is what you are buying.

The arithmetic nobody does before buying
All three prices are in Robux and they are not a ladder, they are two ladders that overlap.
99 for 2x Coins. You are paying for a multiplier on a number you do not yet know. After three rounds you do know it, which is why the beginner guide puts this decision after the first session rather than before it. The pass is permanent, so the earlier you buy it the longer it runs — but only if you keep playing.
199 for VIP. The multiplier is smaller than 2x, and the reason to buy it is everything else in the row: the two VIP lashes, the Metallic and Glitter finishes, the full colour wheel, and the storage slots (24 saved colours, 24 Look Book slots, a 100-look gallery). Storage is the perk that changes a session, because it turns styling from "rebuild from scratch every round" into "open a saved palette and adjust".
399 for Unlock ALL + VIP. Subtract what it contains. It includes VIP, which is 199 on its own, so the level-unlock half costs 200 Robux. That is the number to argue with: is skipping the level grind on 60+ looks worth 200 Robux to you? For a player who will be in this game in three months, probably not. For a player who wants to build looks today from a full library, it is the entire point of the pass.
Two honest limits on that arithmetic. First, VIP and 2x Coins are described in terms of the same thing — coins from rounds — and the store does not state how the two combine, so do not budget for both as though you know the result. Second, none of the three passes appears in the game's own description as required: the game is playable free.
A 60-second decision
- You have played three rounds and want coins faster: 2x Coins, 99. It is the smallest commitment that changes income.
- You keep rebuilding the same palette and want it saved: VIP, 199. The storage and the colour wheel are the actual product.
- You want the whole look library today and do not care about levelling: Unlock ALL + VIP, 399. Understand that you are paying 200 for impatience, and that shop stock still costs coins.
- You are not sure you will still be playing next week: buy nothing. Rounds still pay.
What the store does not sell
Worth stating plainly, because search results for this game are full of things it does not have:
- No codes. There is no code-redemption system advertised on the game's Roblox page. Coins come from rounds; items come from the shop and the passes.
- No ranked pass or season. Nothing in the store description mentions a battle pass.
- No badge purchase. The one badge in the game is for reaching the global top 10, and it cannot be bought — see the badge page.
If you want the round mechanics first, how to play walks the loop; if you want to know what wins the room, beauty battles is the other half.
